Sanahin Monastery
The monastery of Sanahin (10-13cc) is situated in Alaverdi region. Being persecuted by the Byzantines the Armenian clergymen founded the church of St. Godmother here in the first half of the 10th century. Beginning from the 10th century a number of buildings were constructed around this church: St. Savior’s cathedral (966), Magistros’ seminary (11c), St. Gregory’s circular church (1061), the library, the bigger narthex and the bell-tower. -
