Vanevanq monastic complex is located near the Artsvanist villlage of the Gegharquniq Province of RA. The complex consists of two domed churches and one-nave vaulted church, the gavit was built between these churches. The complex was built in 903 by Shapuh Bagratuni and his sister Mariam. During 1983-1985 restoration works were done.
In the 9th century under the guidance of the future catholicos Mashtots - the leader of the Armenian church, sponsored by queen Mariam Bagratuni a monastery was built on the island of Sevan lake.
