The ruins of Spitakavor church are located in the city of Ashtarak. The church was built in the 14th century.

According to the legend, three sisters who lived in the city of Ashtarak, were in love with a prince whose name was Sargis. The two elder sisters, decided to give a chance to the younger sister and committed suicide. Learning about that the younger sister also threw herself into the canyon.

Sargis became a hermit and built three churches in the memory of the sisters. He named the churches by the colours of the sisters\' dresses which they wore on the day they died: Karmravor (Red), Tsiranavor (Orange) and Spitakavor (White). Later, another church named St.Sargis was built in the place from where one can enjoy a spectacular view opening at the three churches.
